Crave Greece Itinerary
-
Day 1 - Athens
OPA!!! Welcome to Greece! Please arrive at the Athens International Airport by 1pm today as we will be heading out on a hidden gems food tour through the streets of Athens. We will get the opportunity to taste the local cuisine, peeking into the Greek culture. We will skip the tourist traps as we walk in the heart of central Athens and meet the vendors of favorite local shops & restaurants sharing their traditional delicacies with us. Once our bellies are full, we will have the rest of the evening free to relax and catch up on some well needed rest.
-
Day 2 - Milos
Today we will depart Athens by speed ferry and head to the island of Milos, an island that is a favorite among Greeks. Once we arrive in Milos we will head to lunch at Medusa, a wonderful local taverna set in the quaint fishing village of Mandrakia overlooking the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. We will enjoy all the classics of tzatziki, fresh seafood and Greek salad. After lunch we will explore the village of Plaka before heading to our beautiful hotel to relax prior to dinner.
This evening we will take a sunset stroll around Sarakiniko Beach, where clear waters are surrounded by a moon-like white landscape with cliffs & ocean caves. For dinner we will eat at the famed Sirocco, a volcanic restaurant set at Paleochori Beach. The most unique and resourceful elements of Sirocco is they use the volcanic heat and steam that can be found under the sand to cook delicious items from their menu. We will head back to the hotel after a delicious dinner for time to digest and relax.
-
Day 3 - Milos
Put on your swimsuits because we are heading out for a full day catamaran excursion around the island. We will eat, drink, and dance the day away while stopping by hidden bays and beautiful swimming spots in the Aegean Sea.
This evening will be at leisure with a cash stipend provided for your dinner, go out or order in after an epic day sailing around the beautiful island of Milos.
-
Day 4 - Sifnos
This morning we depart Milos via speed ferry for Sifnos, an island not traveled by many tourists, but known by locals for its food scene marinated in old traditional and new age style of cooking.
After arriving at our hotel in Sifnos, we will head to the beach for our lunch at Omega3. This tiny, rustic beach shack may not look like much, but as the name suggests, Omega 3 is the one of the best fish restaurants on Sifnos. Omega 3 excels at small plates you can’t find everywhere else. Plus, this is Greece so the sea views are amazing and just another reason to come for lunch.
The afternoon will be at your leisure exploring the beach or heading back to the hotel for some pool time.
This evening we will head to the local village of Artemanas to experience traditional Sifnos cuisine at a neighborhood taverna. Terracotta casseroles made on the island are used to bake many dishes and we will quickly learn that chickpeas are the staple of most Sifnos recipes. As we eat, we will take in the charming atmosphere and sip on delicious Greek wine.
For those wanting to explore the nightlife in Sifnos, we will be making a stop in Apollonia for drinks and dancing (but don’t worry, there will be a transfer to take you back to the hotel should you want to retire for the evening instead).
-
Day 5 - Sifnos
Enjoy your day as the morning and afternoon will be at leisure with a cash stipend provided for your lunch. Relax by the pool, walk to the beach, or explore the village…the choice is yours.
This evening we will explore the beautiful village of Kastro. Kastro is one of the most fascinating and mysterious places on Sifnos. The town has been inhabited for over 3000 years and was at one time the capital of the island. The white-washed village sits upon a domed rock that towers above the sea. On the sea side of the village is the iconic Church of the Seven Martyrs that sits above one of the finest spots for snorkeling on the island.
After exploring the village, we will stop by the beautiful wine bar for a sunset drink before heading to Cantina, a hot spot for foodies on the island. Cantina is a zero waste, using locally sourced & seasonal ingredients. We are in for a treat because no matter what is sent to our table. The beautiful surroundings place us between the white-washed buildings with blue roofs of Kastro and the calming waves of the Aegean Sea.
-
Day 6 - Sifnos
This morning we will head to Narlis Farms, a multigenerational family owned farm. We will enjoy breakfast consisting of Sifnos thyme honey, homemade marmalade jam, homemade cheese and eggs from their free range chickens. We will then get a chance to tour the grounds including the garden while collecting some of the produce we will use during our cooking class. We will learn multiple recipes that have been passed down generations. At the end of our lesson, we will sit around the table in the farmhouse and enjoy all we have worked on together as a group.
After our delicious lunch, we will work off our food coma by walking 15 minutes to Apollonia. For those who went out for dancing and drinks, this village may look familiar, but will be much different in the light of day. Here we will explore the village and shop before heading back to the hotel.
The remaining afternoon and evening are at leisure and you will be provided a cash stipend for your dinner.
-
Day 7 - Serifos
We depart Sifnos today and head to Serifos via speed ferry. Serifos is an untouched and hidden gem of the Aegean Sea. It has maintained the traditional character with its untamed and rugged landscape.
Once we arrive on the island we will head up to Plaka, the main village on the island for lunch at a traditional taverna and fill up on all the basics, meze style. Then take some time to explore the little shops along the winding walkways of Plaka.
We will check-in to the hotel in the afternoon to relax before our evening activities.
This evening we will be at the port for a Ceramics class with a local female artisan. Here we will learn the basics of pottery and be able to create some souvenirs to be shipped home (cost of shipping not included).
After our class we will enjoy a traditional greek dinner at the port followed by a cocktail or two at the local bars turned night clubs facing the sea. Even though this is a sleepy island, the locals know how to have fun!
-
Day 8 - Serifos
Today is all about living a life of leisure. We plan to spend the day at COCO-MAT in order to enjoy the beautiful property and get some time for relaxation.
You can schedule a spa treatment (price not included), relax at the beach, or explore the island on your own.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be provided at COCO-MAT. The chef and pastry chef excel in their craft, guiding us through a unique gastronomic adventure incorporating local ingredients and mediterranean flavors.
-
Day 9 - Athens
Today we say goodbye to island life and return to Athens via speed ferry.
Afternoon and evening will be at leisure in Athens with a cash stipend provided for lunch and dinner. It's your chance to buy any last minute gifts or revisit spots you noticed when we walked the streets of Athens on our food tour.
-
Day 10 - Depart
Today we say farewell to our foodie friends. This morning's breakfast is your last chance to indulge in the local pastries at our hotel's buffet.
There will be two scheduled transfers from our hotel to the Athens International Airport.
While we have carefully planned and organized our itinerary, there may be circumstances beyond our control that necessitate changes to hotels or tours during the course of our trip.
